Main exports from Iran over the calendar month to late April included liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) with $523 million worth of sales, followed by liquefied propane at $302 million and liquefied butane at $169 million, said IRICA, adding that Iran had exported $169 million worth of steel and iron products and some $167 million of methanol over the same period.
-- Riyadh seeking flights between Saudi, Iranian Shia cities
Saudi Arabia is seeking direct flights between its Shia-majority city of Dammam and Iran’s Mashhad as part of efforts to improve relations between the two countries, according to an aviation industry official in Iran. Maqsud As’adi, who leads the Association of Iranian Airlines, said on Monday that launching flights to Iran’s second-largest city of Mashhad, located in the northeast of the country and home to a major Shia shrine, is a priority for Saudi Arabia, Press TV wrote.
As’adi said the flight route could serve Saudi Arabia’s Shia community, which is based in the eastern city of Dammam.

Following the announcement of the IFLA 2023 election results, Sakineh Qassempour has been selected as a member of the Literacy and Reading Section of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA).
Iran Public Libraries Foundation, which participated in the election for the first time, introduced four representatives for the IFLA elections.

Iran defeated Kuwait 20-0 at the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s Asia and Oceania Championship. Team Melli Banovan, who had defeated India 17-1 in its opening match in Group B.
Group A consists of Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and the UAE.
The IIHF Asia and Oceania Championship (formally the IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia) is a series of international ice hockey tournaments in the continent of Asia. The event started on April 30 in Bangkok, Thailand and will finish on May 8.
-- Iran: Adnan’s Death ‘Crime Against Humanity’
Iran on Tuesday strongly denounced the occupying regime of Israel’s “crime against humanity” after Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan died in jail following an 87-day hunger strike.
“The way the Israeli regime detained and its inhumane treatment of this Palestinian hunger striker are a clear example of the inhumane and violent behavior the Israeli regime has, in an organized and extensive manner, shown against the Palestinian nation and fighters over the past seven decades,” he said.

-- We have decided to end commotion over our nuclear program: Iran’s nuclear chief
Mohammad Eslami, chief of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said in a ceremony in the Amir Kabir University of Technology on Tuesday that the Islamic Republic has decided to end “commotions” over the country’s nuclear program.
Salami said due to untruthful accusations against Iran for its nuclear program “our path of progress” has become more limited and more “hurdles” have been created every passing day and this has created a situation in which some Iranian citizens may ask what is the “advantage” of nuclear energy.
-- Tehran to host 3rd China Film Week
The third edition of the China Film Week will be held in Tehran by screening five movies by the new generation of Chinese filmmakers. Chinese Ambassador Chang Hua and Cinema Organization of Iran director Mohammad Khazaei and a number of Iranian filmmakers and Chinese film students will attend an opening ceremony, which will be held on Saturday at the Abbas Kiarostami Hall of the Farabi Cinema Foundation.
The Chinese film festival will open at 5 pm with a screening of the disaster-adventure film “The Captain” by Andrew Lau.
-- Vietnamese envoy visits Isfahan to cement closer ties
Vietnamese ambassador to Iran, Luong Quoc Huy, has met with Isfahan’s governor-general Seyyed Reza Mortazavi to discuss ways to deepen cultural ties. Visiting the ancient city of Isfahan, Huy, and Mortazavi on Sunday exchanged views on challenges and opportunities related to tourism as well as initiatives such as fostering sister city relationship with Ho Chi Minh.
Mortazavi said Isfahan is ready to play a role to help develop relations between the two countries. “At this time, we require a comprehensive strategy to ensure that the two nations’ relations will prosper in various areas… I hope that Isfahan’s contribution helps relations to grow stronger.”
